Majulah Singapura

Well, hello! Today is Thanksgiving, an American holiday, and I am in London where they do not really celebrate it. Now, for some of you, that might seem like a horrible thing, but for me, that is quite alright. I never have really been a fan of Thanksgiving food, I think turkey is bland and dry and outside of my mom's amazing spicy stuffing (modified with some of her Singapore style), I would prefer some home cooked Asian food, which she would usually make after we returned from some festivity. Now, since I am with an American university and it is Thanksgiving, we are all going out as a group for some sort of Thanksgiving food. I am going to be cordial about all this, because, well, it's Thanksgiving. But to uphold some of my own traditions, I also decided to go to Chinatown for a bit. I had a bao and went to a couple of grocery stores to pick up some things to remind me of home. I have to say, I really hit to jackpot.

RWU football. That's right, American style.
Chinatown.
It wouldn't be Thanksgiving if there weren't Christmas decorations already up.
Packet mee goreng.
These were my favorite growing up. They are called U Too, I know that is not the correct spelling.
Now all you Singapore people, are you jealous? These will be gone by tonight.
Now the best part is, tomorrow, there will be no hiding indoors because of crazy Black Friday people!

Just Friends

Warwick (Disneyland) Castle.

Alright, you caught me, this isn't part of the castle. But it is one of two postboxes with the initials V R on it.

You Know I'm No Good

Onto Stratford upon Avon.

Shakespeare's wife, Anne Hathaway's cottage. Not the current actress.
Shakespeare's birthplace.
The New Place, where Shakespeare lived for his final years.
Hall's Croft, where Shakespeare's daughter Susanna lived with her husband, Dr. John Hall.
Shakespeare's grave at Holy Trinity Church.
The oldest facade at the Royal Shakespeare Company's theater.
Shakespeare's monument, desecrated with birds and bird poop.
These next three are of Falstaff, one of my favorite characters.

Rehab

So this past week I went to Stratford upon Avon and a couple of other places. It was cool. Onto the pictures! This start post is from Oxford.

Radcliffe Camera at Oxford. Notice our guide's hand. Not named after the Harry Potter star.
The first building designed by Christopher Wren, at Oxford.
Christchurch College. Where Dodgson wrote the Alice books.
I actually didn't catch this one. Very vulgar though, just say it out loud if you don't get it.
The rollright stones. These are the frozen king's men.

F*ck You

And now for a fun post. At Brighton, I went on a carousel. And I have pictures of me on said carousel.

Haha, I can take pictures too!
This is more fun than I expected.
OMG THE LIGHTS TURNED ON!
I am like a kid again!
It's over. This sucks.

Forget You

Alright I am completely obsessed with the song that titles this entry. I have listened to it about 150 times in the past 2 days. It's so good. But on to the thing you guys care about more, which I know is photos. I went to Brighton this weekend and had a great time. I really loved going and walking around, which is funny because leading up to this trip all I heard was bad things, but none of them stopped me from going and I stand to correct them now. The highlight was definitely the Royal Pavilion, but I was not allowed to snap any pictures inside which really sucked hard since it was just so cool. I did snap some from the outside just so you know what I am talking about. Also, to finish my little day trip to Brighton, I ate fish and chips for the first time since I got to England. That is right, I am a lamebot who only ate her first fish and chips here with only a mere month left. But I have good reasoning, which is that I wanted to eat it by the shore after not having it in London. Which is exactly what I did, eat fish and chips right on the shore with malt vinegar. It was really fun and I would recommend anyone to go and just explore, preferably on a Saturday when all the markets are open. But onwards HO!

The Royal Pavilion.

The shore.

This is the type of stuff that makes me think The Birds was on to something.

Well, I had to find one.
